Hypocrisy
I wear a niqab
terrorist
oppressed
Star Wars
When I put on my veil I am both: past and future
I am neither here or there
I am always something in which I am not
my niqab symbolizes my own inner desires
with it I do not feel close to God, but I feel comfort knowing..
knowing that no one can judge me on my face or fat rolls
They must judge me on me
I see the movement of the fabric on the breeze..
like a bird about to take off.
My actions are never my own because I forgot
I am a woman
I am the face of Islam
the face of terrorism
the face of Star Wars
the face for some people's orientalist desires
How can I be called backwards but you choose to represent me in the future
In your fantasy
You choose my form to represent the oppressed who will rise again
You choose my form to protect your self from the cold
You cover your ears, hair, nose, and mouth from the bitterness of winter
Or the evils of the twirling sand storm
Some how I am the evil because
I choose this for myself
I am the evil because I decide on what you can and cannot see
